if you're reading this, you've been invited to stoops! we're an invite only slice-of-life gpsl set in new york city. in addition to regular sol characters, we also welcome faux celebs as long as they are based in new york city.
applying & activity

joining
we want stoops to be a fun, fair place to write our characters. as such, we've decided to keep our numbers small and our gpsl private. after the first round of adds, new members are required to join with a referral from an existing member. adds will be completed once a week. after the first round of adds, each member can use one referral to invite a new member per week. we ask that you only use your referrals to invite writers that you know personally and trust in order to keep our gpsl free from harrassment. to keep our gpsl safe, we ask that you use noembed in your journal's profile and do not reuse a username from a previous role. discretion is the responsibility of our all members. at least for now, members are not allowed to post ads in pbads or psls (or any other public journal, or off-server app). you are encouraged to use the subcomm to introduce your character ooc and seek lines with within the community, but please note that our emphasis will always be on forging organic connections. the mods reserve the right to reject anyone we feel is not a good fit for the group. if your application has been deleted, you have been rejected. application checklist

✔ a backdated, screened ooc post, which should include:
- character's first and last name
- date of birth
- borough and/or neighborhood
- occupation (and credit claims, if you're bringing a faux celeb)
- a bio including basic background and personality information about your character. activity
this is a gpsl, and there is no activity requirement, but all members are strongly encouraged to be active on the friends page. we want to keep our friends lists clean of anyone who might be inactive. if you do not update your friends list within six weeks, you'll be switched to an 'inactive' status; inactive characters can have their pbs overriden by new or existing members. if you anticipate a long absence, we recommend taking a hiatus. there are no specific requirements for a hiatus, just give us a general ballpark of when you'll be back and we'll check in if we don't hear from you for a while. if you don't respond to a check-in message from the mods within a reasonable amount of time, we'll switch your character to inactive. introductions
traditional introductions are not required. you can intro in-character or out of character in the subcomm, participate in or host an ffa, comment around members' friends only posts, or post an update (even a small one) for your introduction activity. almost anything will count as an introduction as long as comments are enabled and you post within a week of adds; if you're not sure, ask the mods here! the one exception to this is dating app posts do not count as an intro. members that do not run the friends button and/or introduce themselves in some way within a week will be removed.
other rules

we have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and harassment. any claims of misconduct reported to the mods will be investigated; substantiated claims will result in an immediate ban of the offending parties. as a small gpsl, we take these claims very seriously. we will delete this journal if we see it mentioned in a place accessible to non-members. realism, faux celebrities
respectfully, have fun; we are not going to police realism for any of the members of community. we will be observing the five-year rule for any played-bys and credit claims. all credit claims will be for the artist's entire body of work.

✔ a backdated ooc info post, which should at minimum contain your character's name, age & birthdate, magical status (the only playable characters are witches and warlocks), occupation, and a small blurb. this doesn't need to be anything too in depth, we recognize that sometimes you need to write a character for a bit before you get the perfect handle on them
✔ a comment in our storylines post - this is a small town game with a small town feel, so we want to get to know your character at least a little! we reserve the right to reject anyone we feel is not a good fit for the community. if your application has been deleted, that means you have been rejected. we will not answer inquiries about rejections.

activity requirements will be simple, as we're only looking for one update a month. while our hope is that members will be inspired to update more often, this is the minimum! anything that shows some effort will be accepted. if you are added after the 20th of the month, you will only be required to intro.

in lieu of traditional, individual intros, we will host an ic ffa with every round of adds. we're hoping this helps foster the cozy small town vibe we're going for!

we are an app free community. while we cannot stop anyone from using things like discord, wire, etc., we expect our members to abide by this, and keep interaction to journals.
